Ahmed Eissa is a lecturer of Urology at Tanta University, Egypt. Furthermore, he was a urology fellow in the university of Modena & Reggio Emilia from 10/2016 to 10/2019 and 07/2023 to 07/2024. He is interested in new technologies and advancements in the urological field. He has more than 55 international peer-reviewed publications (45% of this work is published in the top 25% of the urological journals). His H-index is 15.

Dr Ammar Al-Ani joined HMC in 2003 and started his residency training program in urology in the same year. He obtained the MRCSI from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in Aug, 2006 and CABU in Mar, 2010. He joined HMC fellowship program in Endourology in Jan, 2010 and finished his fellowship program in Jan, 2012. During his fellowship he did training in endourology with Prof. Olivier Traxer in Tenon Hospital Paris France and Prof. Jens Rassweiler in SLK Kliniken Heilbronn Germany and obtained the Laparoscopy Diploma from the IRCAD Strasbourg France.

He played a major role in creation of the various urology fellowship programs in HMC. He worked in collaboration with the medical education department to put the curriculum for the urology fellowship programs according to ACGMEI guidelines.

His clinical interests include the minimally invasive management of urinary tract stones including shock wave lithotripsy, percutaneous and ureteroscopic stone removal.

He is also interested in clinical teaching and he was awarded HMC Best Teacher Award twice in 2012 and 2013

Currently he is senior consultant urologist and Program Director of the endourology fellowship in HMC. Assistant Professor in WCMC Qatar , QU Faculty of Medicine.

Dr Ammar established “HMC Endourology Hands-on Workshop for Urology Residents and Fellows”, This workshop designed to give Hands-on training using models, simulators, endoscopes and laser. In this workshop we trained residents and fellows from HMC and other countries like Kuwait, Oman, Jordan, Sudan, Iraq and Bangladesh.

He participated in the development of National Clinical Guideline for UROLITHIASIS in Qatar.

He had introduced the Supine PCNL procedure to the endourological practice in HGH.

Dr Ammar collaborated with the Endourological Society in the United States to get accreditation for HMC endourology fellowship in HMC.

Mr Ali was appointed as a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Frimley Health Foundation NHS Trust in 2017. He leads the bladder cancer services and is a core member of the excellent Urology Department at Frimley Park Hospital.

He was awarded his Masters degree in Urology from University College of London in 2013 and continued to gain his expertise in managing urological oncology while undertaking a fellowship post at Addenbrookes hospital in Cambridge.

Currently, Mr Ali has introduced the new technique of En-bloc resection of a bladder tumour in addition to using narrowband imaging and blue light cystoscope at his department.

Mr Ali is currently involved in NIHR funded trial to investigate the role of novel markers in overactive bladder syndrome.

Prof Ahmad Hammady, graduated from Sohag University Hospital in Egypt 1995, where he started his residency in Urology department. After he got his Bachelor Degree in Urology, he joined SLK Kliniken: Klinikum am Gesundbrunnen in Heilbronn, Germany and completed clinical fellowship training in the field of Laparoscopic surgery and minimally invase surgery in 2004 after which he got his MD Degree in Laparoscopy and minimally invasive urologic surgery. Dr Albert El Hajj is an Associate Professor at the American University of Beirut Medical Center. After graduating from the Saint Joseph University in Beirut, he completed his robotic and minimally invasive surgery fellowship in Paris at Montsouris, Henri Mondor and Saint Joseph hospitals. He joined AUBMC in July 2013 where he founded the Robotic Urology program. Dr Thwaini has been working as a consultant urological surgeon with specialist interest in urological cancers, namely in renal cancers. He is the lead for renal cancers in the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust (Belfast City Hospital). This is a tertiary regional referral centre for complex cancer and benign cases. His main skills are in advanced laparoscopy and renal cancer and renal reconstruction procedures.

Dr Thwaini is also an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at Queens University, Belfast. He is known for his academic contributions throughout his career with over 35 Medline publications in the field.

After graduating from medical school, Baghdad University in 1994, Dr Thwaini relocated to Jordan where he started his career in Urology at the Royal Medical Services, which is a national tertiary referral center. He acquired FRCS (Ireland) in 1999 and the Jordanian Board in Urology in 2000.

He then moved to Abu Dhabi where he worked for three years as a specialist at SKMC. He acquired the Arab Board in Urology in 2001.

In 2004 he moved to the UK, where he finished his MD degree from Queen Mary University of London. His thesis was on prostate cancer. In 2007 he entered the UK national higher training scheme in urology. This took place in Northern Ireland, where he worked in Belfast City Hospital, Altnagelvin Hospital and Craigavon Hospital, working with regional and national experts in the field. During his training, Dr Thwaini developed specialist interest in urological cancers. He completed his training in 2012 by acquiring the Intercollegiate Specialty Board Certificate in Urology (FRCS-Urology) and he acquired the CCT UK-wide accreditation.

Mr Amr Emara qualified as a medical doctor in 1998, graduating from Ain Shams Medical School, Cairo, Egypt. He undertook a residency program in Urology and appointed to a University lectureship post due to outstanding academic achievements including research projects on urinary tract infections in children. He was awarded a masters degree followed by further research work on erectile dysfunction in men and accordingly was awarded the MD degree from the same University.

Mr Emara was successfully granted the fellowship of European board in Urology in 2008 then the Royal College of Surgeons of England fellowship in Urology in 2012. He attended post training fellowship on the Brachytherapy treatment for prostate cancer in Saint Luke's cancer institute in Guildford. This was followed by a year as senior uro-oncology fellow in the University Hospital of South Manchester where he trained in advanced renal and pelvic cancer surgery. He was then granted a 2 year fellowship programme on upper urinary tract laparoscopy and robotic surgery in the specialised renal cancer unit in Frimley Park Hospital.

Mr Emara has special academic interest, he has published and presented over 70 peer reviewed publications and podium presentations in both national and international meetings. He is also an overseas supervisor for PhD candidates and international speaker in various urological meetings.

Amr is now a urology consultant at North Hampshire Hospital and works as honorary consultant in Frimley Park Hospital. His main surgical interest is specialised laparoscopic and open surgery for renal cancer including Cryotherapy minimally invasive technique. He has also developed his experience in diagnostic prostate cancer procedures including template biopsy and MRI-targeted approach. He has a special interest in the focal prostate cancer treatment using both HIFU and Cryo ablative techniques and also the Greenlight Laser Therapy for benign enlargement of prostate. Rizwan Hamid is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at the University College London Hospitals and London Spinal Injuries Unit, Stanmore, UK and a Honorary Associate Professor at UCL. He undertook specialist urological training in London with fellowship in functional and neurourology at Institute of Urology, London. Rizwan was the first non-European qualified urologist appointed at UCLH in open interview. His doctoral thesis was investigating fertility issues in spinal cord injury men resulting in a MD from UCL. He specialises in Female Urology & Neuro-Urology and provides a tertiary care practice in reconstruction of the lower urinary tract. Complementing his experience in general urological conditions, Rizwan specialises in conservative and surgical management of bladder dysfunction in both male and females.
